LEN function in Google Sheets

Returns the length of a string.

=LEN(text)

    The string whose length will be returned.

  1. The character count of a product title, for a 60-character limit check:

    =LEN(A2)

  2. How many items are in a comma-separated list — count the commas, add one:

    =LEN(A2) - LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A2, ",", "")) + 1
