FIXED function in Excel

Formats a number as text with a fixed number of decimals

=FIXED(number, [decimals], [no_commas])

FIXED syntax and parameters

Three arguments, one required.

  • numbernumberRequired

    The number you want to round and convert to text.

  • decimalsnumberOptional

    The number of digits to the right of the decimal point.

  • no_commasbooleanOptional

    A logical value that, if TRUE, prevents FIXED from including commas in the returned text.

  1. One decimal place with thousands separators, as text:

    =FIXED(B2, 1)

    Result"1,250.0"

  2. No decimals and no separators — for an ID-style string:

    =FIXED(B2, 0, TRUE)

    Result"1250"
